Coming just a fortnight shy after the big Super Bowl spot, the third TV ad for Transformers: Dark of the Moon that aired during the Daytona 500 last night didn’t reveal a whole lot of new footage. And yet, somehow, it seemed just as impressive, the new shots giving a better sense of how the robots take to the streets of Chicago this time around.
The voice over from John Turturro’s character narrating “Years from now they’re gonna ask us, where were you when they took over the planet”– giving an appropriately epic feel.
And that shot of Bumblebee transforming on a serene seaside road? Not bad at all. At least the MECHTECH elements in the toys do make sense after being portrayed in the clip!
The trailer was played into the pace car lap of the Daytona 500, as they had three vehicles from the movie help lead the drivers out on to the course on Feb. 20. It was a huge promotional plug for the movie, and played very nicely into the debut of the new trailer that also included the NASCAR “Transformers” that will also appear in the July film.

Movie viewers all around the world will be able to see “Transformers 3” at nearly every cinema beginning June 30th & July 1, 2011. There is an expectation that at midnight on the night of June 30 that there will be midnight showings for the film, as this is one that has created a lot of buzz for the 2011 summer film season. “Transformers 3” should easily be one of the biggest movies of the summer, and early predictions have this one drawing more than $300 million in the domestic box office.
Just a reword, that this new “Transformers 3” trailer is another 30-second spot for the film that STILL doesn’t reveal a lot more about the plot, but it does give a few more action sequences for viewers to enjoy. It also finally gives a bit of dialogue to the characters that play a part in it, a departure from the Super Bowl spot where it just sounded like an alarm going off for the duration of the trailer.
