Cheetor is actually a Transformers Collectors Club-exclusive retool of Blurr, Cheetor transforms into a sleek futuristic race car. A button on his hood deploys an energy saw weapon which can double as a shield or clip onto his back in robot mode. Due to his leg design, the very middle of Cheetor’s rear wheels are the only parts that roll, while the sides do not.
These parts stick out a hair, though, so his mobility in vehicle mode is unhindered. His feet can swivel and have ball-jointed toes and heels, which lets him easily pull off running poses, if you can see him doing that sort of thing.
“Cheetor loves the thrill of the chase. When his turbo sensors lock on to the taillights of a fleeing Decepticon, and he pushes his accelerator to the floor, Cheetor’s head gaskets receive a rush like nothing else! The only problem is that sometimes he gets a little too focused on his games of cat-and-mouse. His optics lock in on the perp, causing his surroundings to fade into a blur as he races after the bad guy. Street signs, traffic flow, even that unfortunate ‘bot caught crossing in his path! Nothing else matters to him during his race to catch the bad guy. That’s no doubt the reason that the Precinct is constantly rotating Cheetor from partner to partner; no one in their right processors would want to get stuck with an eager rookie like Cheetor watching their back!”
Cheetor is a veritable hoop of homages! Obviously, he’s based on Transtech Cheetor, who was going to be an upgraded version of the original Cheetor. However, after Transtech was scrapped, Fun Publications did a TransTech storyline featuring a DIFFERENT Cheetor. In the meantime, Transtech Cheetor’s design was an inspiration for Animated Blurr, who he’s a retool of. Finally, his colors are based on the Beast Machines version of Cheetor.
And to round off the list of exciting announcements, the online preview for Animated Transtech Cheetor is now available. This figure features an ALL-NEW head sculpt courtesy of Derrick J. Wyatt, the Art Director behind the Transformers: Animated series. This figure, along with G2 Ramjet, will be available for Club members to purchase next year.
