Get ready for a clash of prehistoric proportions! Hasbro, the renowned toy manufacturer, has just unveiled an exciting new crossover set that brings together the iconic worlds of Transformers and Jurassic Park. In celebration of Jurassic Park’s 30th anniversary, this collaboration is set to reignite the thrill of the beloved franchise in a whole new way.
The centrepiece of the set features a thrilling recreation of one of the most memorable scenes from the 1993 film. Fans will vividly remember the ill-fated Dennis Nedry, played by Wayne Knight, attempting to make his escape from the treacherous park in a Jeep, armed with a stolen can of dinosaur embryos concealed in a Barbasol shaving cream can.
However, his plans take a deadly turn when he encounters the menacing Decepticon Dilophocon, a hooting, hissing, poison-spitting Dilophosaurus.
The Autobot JP12 takes centre stage as it transforms from a robot into the iconic red-and-tan Jeep Wrangler seen in the film. With an impressive 23-step transformation process, this figure captures the essence of the original vehicle. Complete with accessories such as a handgun, a Barbasol can, and a head inspired by Nedry himself, complete with glasses and a rain hat, Autobot JP12 brings the scene to life.
On the opposing side, the Beast Wars-styled Decepticon Dilophocon steals the show with its 20-step transformation from a robot into a fearsome dinosaur. This figure includes a removable “venom blast” accessory, which represents the creature’s infamous poison-laden saliva that ultimately seals Nedry’s tragic fate.
Fans eager to own this epic crossover set can purchase it for $75. The set is now available for sale on Hasbro Pulse and Amazon, promising enthusiasts an opportunity to immerse themselves in the thrilling worlds of Transformers and Jurassic Park.
This collaboration marks a significant moment for Hasbro, as the company has a long-standing history with the Jurassic Park franchise. Under their Kenner brand, Hasbro produced an incredibly successful toy line for the original 1993 film and continued to create toys for its sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, and Jurassic World. However, in 2017, Universal opted to collaborate with rival toymaker Mattel for their subsequent films, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World: Dominion.
Fortunately, Hasbro and Universal rekindled their partnership in 2021 to deliver the first Transformers-Jurassic Park crossover set. The initial set featured the clash between the Decepticon Tyrannocon Rex and the Autobot JP93, reimagining the Tyrannosaurus’ iconic escape from its paddock and subsequent attack on the park’s distinctive Ford Explorers. In this set, Tyrannocon Rex, a revamped version of Beast Wars’ Megatron, faced off against JP93, whose design drew inspiration from Jurassic Park’s heroic protagonist, Dr. Alan Grant, portrayed by Sam Neill.
The Transformers and Jurassic Park collaboration join the ranks of Hasbro’s Collaborative line, which has successfully merged various universes in captivating ways. Previous crossovers have included Universal’s Monsters, Top Gun, Marvel, Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future.
