This news is rather shocking with Bumblebee appeared to be a beat-up Datsun as the Transformers 3 crew was shooting in day 2 at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The shoot will include a helicopter scene above the museum, reports local radio affiliate WTMJ. What they are filming is unknown.
However, what went on yesterday is we can confirm that Patrick Dempsey was indeed on the set and that the “yellow car with black accents” that Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley got into was not the Chevrolet Camaro, but rather a Datsun PL510, a vehicle from the late ’60s early ’70s.
In the several videos embedded below, we can see that Mr. LaBeouf and Ms. Huntington-Whiteley exit the Art Museum and get into the waiting PL510 parked outside. Soon Shia get off the car abit panicky reminded us of Movie 1 when Bumblebee is cranking up.
He opens the hood, and begins to fuss with it, and gets frustrated, at one point, putting his foot on the car and yanking at something. At that point, Mr. Dempsey walks out and speaks with Mr. LaBeouf.
It seems like Bumblebee ditched the Camaro look and has gone JDM. In these pics, notice how this 1972 Datsun 510 is sporting with the Bumblebee racing stripes.
About time this film stops being a huge GMC commercial. I’m interested to see how this pans out, hopefully he rocks this look for a good chunk of the movie.
