Transformers 2 Not A ‘Lame Sequel
Michael Bay says that "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen," will not be a setup for a third film and insists the project will be completely self-contained. "You know how those sequels they do the second one so you go see the third one?" Bay told MTV News. "Let's just say [this] is not a lame sequel."
Reports are that upwards of 20 robots will do battle in the sequel, but Bay prefers to focus on how the robots will be more fully and individually realized than on the number of robots.
"The robots are going to surprise a lot of people because we go with a lot of different levels," he said.
Returning for the sequel will be original cast members Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. LaBeouf 's character will be in college complete with professor Rainn Wilson, while Fox says about her character, "In this one I transform from a girl into a woman."
Filming has been spotted at a number of locations, including the Bethlehem Steel Factory, which was transformed into a war-ravaged fictional Chinese city.
Some filming will take place next month at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base's Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group in Tuscon, Arizona, also known as 'The Boneyard' for out-of-service U.S. government aircraft.
"Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" is slated for release in theaters Summer 2009.
