Mr. Farrar was also the VFX supervisor for Transformers.
Speaking with Variety, he says that the robots will interact with their settings a lot more this time around, including "splashes and the hits and the fighting on dirt or moving, banging into trees."
He continues, "Things splinter and break, they spit, they outgas, they sweat, they snort."
Mr. Farrar says certain places, including refineries at night, were chosen to help boost the visual drama and show off the scale of the robots.
Due to three scenes being filmed in IMAX, ILM has taken on another challenge for Revenge of the Fallen.
The format is approximately 15 times larger than the 35mm format, meaning that the CG work must be done at a much higher resolution. One frame in the IMAX scene may day several days to render.
