Approximately 200 airmen have been hired as extras for the "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" shoot at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamagordo, NM. Air Force Times reports that the extras will be used as military members in the film and here is their report;
Hollywood has returned to Holloman Air Force Base in southern New Mexico. Last week, hundreds of airmen showed up for a movie casting call at the base.
No one will say what movie the airmen were needed for, but all indications point to the sequel of 2007’s “Transformers.”
Parts of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” are set to be filmed in Alamogordo, N.M., home to Holloman. Scenes from the first “Transformers” were shot at Holloman in 2006 and featured aircraft such as the CV-22 Osprey and MH-53 Pave Low.
“About 200 people will be hired as extras to portray military members,” Maryellen Aviano, extras casting coordinator for DreamWorks Pictures, said in an Air Force news release.
Airmen were more than happy to spend off-duty time in front of a camera.
“The thrill of knowing I may be in a movie outweighs the possibility of having to work long hours on a movie set,” said Airman 1st Class Karla Jimenez, 49th Civil Engineer Squadron."
While DreamWorks casting representatives would not reveal the film's name, "all indications point to" the sequel to "Transformers," Air Force Times suggests.
The article does not indicate when filming will be conducted at the base, but it was previously reported that it will occur sometime in the fall.
