While Transformers Prime is still ongoing to season 2, Shout Factory has already announced the release of Transformers Prime in a five-part mini series in DVD. You can grab them in shelves on December 6th onwards.
This collaboration with Hasbro will deliver a new level of heavy metal action and family entertainment for all ages, this highly collectible DVD is priced to own with a suggested retail price of $14.97.
Transformers Prime features The Rock who played as Cliffjumper for about a minute. There is also Peter Cullen (as always) returns to the role of Optimus Prime, joined by Frank Welker as Megatron (who talked to us about his role on the series earlier this year), Jeffrey Combs as Ratchet, and Kevin Michael Richardson and Bulkhead.
Anyway, casting coups aside,* this pretty brutal miniseries which ushered in the CG version of the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons with all kinds of casualties on both sides and get this: zombie robots. Did this tie into the IDW Infestation event from earlier this year?
No word on any kind of special features on the disc, and cover art is currently unavailable. Here’s the official synopsis:
Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, AUTOBOT Ratchet, Bulkhead, and many others are back to “roll out” against Megatron’s latest attempt to conquer Earth. And Megatron proves to be more powerful than ever, having acquired a rare element that allows him mastery over life itself. OPTIMUS PRIME and the AUTBOTS may be few against the Decepticon hordes, but they find increased strength through bonds forged with three human teenagers, taking the human drama to levels as yet unseen by the franchise.
