Though we have to admit that most of us are growing tired of Masterpiece reproductions and redecos of Optimus Prime, this one coming is still one of the big kahunas that hard core collectors had to pay attention to.
Recently, Takara Tomy have released a detailed description of it’s upcoming MP-10 Convoy version 2.o. While many of us kept thinking why the heck and specialty of this MP that the toy going to bring, a toy blogger with a moniker Cybergundam blog has given all of us the first official looks that show the new mold with it’s scaled down figure and trailer.
While there is downsizing occurring, but one can’t help to agree that the downsizing actually enhances the toy further much better than it’s other MP predecessors.
The MP-10 is really a whole new figure. The reason behind the scale down by Takara Tomy is enhancing the articulation. They deliberately standardized the sizes using MP-09 Rodimus as the benchmark scale. That shows future releases of MPs will be of this scale.
He as a storage for his Fusion cannon in Primes back. He has a battle axe. The inlcuded Matrix is smaller too. He can transform in one touch. Something that seems quite amazing as the MP-1 mold is a pretty complicated figure to transform.
MP-10 includes a human figure that can fit into the driver seat. It also has a silver Roller and the full base mode with service bay, and maintenance crane. I don’t any missiles weapon feature on the crane.
The MP-10 set has been re-painted to reflect original Japanese animated look.
The the most shocking news about the MP-10 is the price. At 22,000 Yen / $270 USD / RM810, that is a lot of money for what is arguably less Convoy than the MP-4. Takara will be releasing this set in Japan only on September 24, 2011. Surely this will be imported by retailers in the USA for what will likely be at least $300 USD / RM 990!
