ROTF Soundtrack Review
The best movie soundtracks always play like a mixtape from a friend. The same goes for "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" ... if your friend is Clear Channel. To assemble a summer blockbuster-sized soundtrack, Reprise Records enlists the help of modern rock's biggest names.
Nothing here is too surprising or even very interesting. Linkin Park offers up the film's main theme with "New Divide," Green Day lends their rock-opera ballad "21 Guns," and Nickelback donates a song that sounds like all their other songs. The only noteworthy moment is Utah's own The Used contributing a horrific, gothed-out reworking of Talking Heads' "Burning Down the House."
The Fray, Hoobastank, and The All-American Rejects all throw in a track for the ladies and Staind takes care of the low-end growling. It may be hard to comprehend what it feel like when transforming robots finally take over the world, but at least we know what it will sound like. Bummer.
