LaBeouf had reportedly been out at a bar the night of the crash and was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor driving under the influence. He was trying to turn left at around 2:30 a.m. when Herbert's car hit the actor's Ford F-150 truck, which then rolled over twice.
While LaBeouf was seriously injured, his passenger, "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" co-star Isabel Lucas, sustained only minor injuries. According to TMZ.com, LaBeouf has not yet been charged with DUI in connection with the accident, and a police spokesperson told Access Hollywood that they have not yet received the actor's blood tests from the hospital and that it could be a few more weeks until they do.
"Transformers" director Michael Bay has claimed that LaBeouf was not drunk at the time of the crash but had been drinking "hours and hours" before he got behind the wheel. After initial reports that he might not be back on set for the "Transformers" reboot for a month, E! Online reported last week that LaBeouf was already back to work on the movie. Bay has already revealed that the script is being adapted to incorporate the actor's injury.
