The fallout from Activision’s announcement is still settling, as word is trickling down that Vicarious Visions, hard hit developer of Guitar Hero ports and Transformers War for Cybertron will be losing “easily a quarter of studio staff.”
That translates to roughly 50 people, in the wake of the massive 500 who have been let go after Activision axed one of its biggest franchises, one of the “seven pillars” as it was calling it a few short months ago.
Vicarious Visions apparently had a new Guitar Hero game in development when the wave of announcements hit. We’re still waiting for the other shoe to drop for other developers, Neversoft included, the future of which is still uncertain.
Activision is reportedly helping affected staff find new jobs, though exactly what measures are being undertaken is unclear. The studio will not be closed down at the very least, probably due to their work on the fairly decent Transformers DS port.
