ToyFare, America’s leading consumer toy publication, has chosen Hasbro’s Transformers brand to receive this year’s award in commemoration of the franschise’s landmark 25th anniversary.
“Hasbro has produced incredible Transformers action figures for both diehard fans and younger audiences,” Wizard Entertainment Publisher Gareb Shamus said. “We're very pleased to honor Hasbro with this award of achievement for Transformers.”
Few other toy lines have enjoyed the same evergreen success that Hasbro’s Transformers has over the past 25 years. Transformers toys debuted in 1984 alongside the highly successful animated series. This first generation of Transformers media introduced the world to pop culture icons Optimus Prime and Megatron, two characters that would become mainstays throughout the line’s many iterations.
Whether going by Beast Wars, Transformers Armada or the original Transformers, this toy line has continually impressed and delighted fans of all ages. The Transformers line reached new levels of success after 2007’s blockbuster "Transformers" motion picture from Dreamworks Pictures and Paramount Pictures in association with Hasbro. The highly anticipated sequel, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," will be released June 24th.
“Hasbro is honored to have its iconic Transformers toy line inducted into ToyFare Magazine’s Hall of Fame,” said Greg Lombardo, Transformers Global Brand Director. “With 2009 marking the 25th Anniversary of the brand, the entire Transformers team is extremely grateful to the staff of ToyFare magazine and Transformers fans around the world for their ongoing enthusiasm and support.”
