Bringing Robots to Life
Douglas Sutton, a senior artist from Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) will present a Jedi MasterClass on “Bringing Robots to Life,” on April 16 in Kuala Lumpur. The venue will be disclosed upon registration.
The presentation is based on ILM’s visuals in the film Transformers. The Jedi MasterClass, hosted by Lucasfilm Animation Singapore will give digital artists and animators a behind-the-scenes look at the visual effects featured in the movie.
Administratus Prime Sutton, who was the sequence supervisor in the movie, will speak on 3D modelling, animation, photorealistic lighting techniques as well as an overview of ILM’s production pipeline.
He will also share some insights in learning “how to see” as an artist and how to make computer graphic imagery look real.
At the presentation, computer graphics artists and Transformers fans will also learn about the concept behind the facial expressions of the robots in the movie.
Sutton will share how many pieces had to be modelled, painted, and connected to create a realistic digital robot for the big screen.
