The Chinese have been nutters when comes to Transformers. Hordes of film fans have visited the park in Jiaxing, located in China’s Zhejiang province, which features giant replicas of live-action favourites including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron.

The towering model park has recently been opened for the first time to the viewing public, and is believed to be China’s first-ever Transformers theme park.

It was created by local artist Zhu Kefeng and a group of friends who transformed the former abandoned warehouse.
They have been building Transformer figures at the site since 2001, using bits of scrap metal to make the astonishing creations.

The group have built over 600 steel sculptures covering a wide variety of different themes and are now showing them off to the public.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, Transformers is currently the seventh highest-grossing film series of all time.
Last year crowds flocked to see 13 similar structures which sprung up overnight at a park in north-east China following the release of the series’ third installment Dark of the Moon.

In 2011, Transformers: The Ride opened at Universal Studios in Singapore, with a similar amusement set to open in Hollywood later this year.
